Once you get the attention of your new customer, marketing is about getting your customer to like and trust you (enough to consider parting with their hard earned cash).
It is a trait of human nature, people will give more trust to a large business than a small business at first glance… and even less trust to a one man band.
This is where the importance of having your own domain name comes in.
If you have an email with a gmail, yahoo, hotmail or any other generic sort of address you are stacking the odds up against yourself.
You will be labelled a small business and attract all the connotations which go with it – not as much trust and prices should be lower.
You don’t want to be judged to a lower standard because it is harder to earn the trust and harder to justify having higher prices.
You want to come across as a professional outfit – so when you new customer hears your buy price – they are thinking that is reasonable – not how can a backyard business justify charging that much.
Happy Marketing,
James
PS. The cost of having your own domain name with you own email address is far less than the business you are losing by potential customers thinking you are too small to be a professional business.
