Facebook Is Not A Strategy…

March 9, 2015 By James Hill

No Facebook AdvertisingG’Day,

Facebook is not a strategy – it’s a source of traffic.

It’s where people go to hang out in the online world we live in. You can catch up with anyone, at any time anywhere in the world where you have an internet connection.

And with the internet.org Facebook initiative – it won’t be long until everyone can get online.

So – the question for you business owners is, are you best utilising this source of traffic?

Are you using the right etiquette?

To me – Facebook is like an online cafe. You go their to hang out with your friends – and no-one likes the friend in the group who is always looking for the opportunity to sell something.

It’s the same online – if someone likes your business page, it’s because they are interested in what you have to say…

Not because they want to be blasted with your ads every time they jump online.

Unless you truly have an unbelievable sale – one you will never, ever repeat – then you should never advertise your products on Facebook.

Not one person has ever said – I’m going to a cafe to be advertised to. I buy the magazine for the adverts.

So – the question is…

How Do You Advertise On Facebook Without Advertising

It’s called content marketing – and whilst it may seem like a hot new topic…

Content Marketing has been around since the dawn of magazines. Savvy business owners don’t buy ad space in magazines – unless it’s strategically plan in relation to an article they have running on their product or services.

Content marketing engages the audience. It’s not an interruption in their day – it is a welcome discovery on a topic they are interested in.

It discusses the options and solutions to a problem they need to solve.

The problem might be where to get their car serviced, what shoes they need for a night out, how to colour their hair, the best way to get fit, what they need to do about their finances.

By giving content and discussing the problem – you jump ahead of all those people who are relying on ads.

Why It Is Pointless Chasing People Who Need You

By James Hill Leave a Comment

G’day, It probably sounds pretty counter intuitive to tell a business owner to stop chasing the people who desperately need their product or service. As a marketing professional, I can pick-up any magazine or newspaper and find dozens of people who desperately need the sort of help I can provide. Alas – it can be […]

What Hollywood A Listers Can Teach Us About Value

By James Hill Leave a Comment

Dear Friend, To the mere mortals who live in what is commonly referred to as the real world… To be paid $50 Million dollars seems like a very silly amount for someone to earn just for making a movie. (it’s all just lights and glamour anyway, right) Until you look at what is happening behind […]

What Milk Can Teach Us About Marketing

By James Hill

Dear Friend, Why is it Milk, and I’m not talking about the different fancy shmancy A2, skim, lite, variety – just your plain ole run of the milk, stand 2L bottle… Can differ in price by 33%. Look at these two bottles, I bought the 2L bottle on the left at a supermarket for $2.99 […]
